Meet Col Serra

 "Hey there folks, it's K.C. Coleman, Assistant Producer, LucasArts again. Back with some more fun tidbits about Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron.
Everywhere we go to show this game to the press and fans alike, we're asked about the single-player campaign and the events that we are telling in it. People really want to know about where the Renegade Squadron came from, who's in the Renegade Squadron, who's not, and most importantly who leads them? Well, today I'm here to spill the beans on a very important, and brand new Star Wars character named Col Serra, the commander of the Renegade Squadron.
I know I know, you may have heard that this squad is Han Solo's squad, and you'd be right...except that it's Col Serra's too. Let me back track a bit.
Let's all go back to the Original Trilogy after Luke drops that final shot in the Death Star ventilation shaft. We all know that Darth Vader spins off into space and is picked up by the remaining Imperial forces prior to the events of The Empire Strikes Back. What we haven't heard before is that the Empire had themselves a few battles with the Rebellion before the fateful events on Hoth.
Shortly after the first Death Star was destroyed, the Empire had regrouped and was in the midst of a counter attack on Yavin 4 (the jungle planet with the big pyramid that housed the Rebels). General Dodonna, the leader of the Rebel forces on Yavin 4, realizing that the Rebellion had sustained great losses in the battle for the Death Star and couldn't take much more, commissioned Han Solo to put together a squad of soldiers that didn't need to be trained like the Rebel recruits that we're still alive. He wanted troops that knew military tactics and could accept orders without question, even if it meant certain death.
Solo took those standing orders from Dodonna and pondered just how to put such a squad together. He knew plenty of guys that Dodonna was looking for but needed someone to lead them so that he could stick to his duties within the Rebellion (namely pursuing Leia!), so he turned to an old friend from his smuggling days -- Col Serra.
Serra understood the mission right away and scoured the galaxy for the right mix of misfits, pirates, thugs, and well...renegades. You are one of those renegades. You are the new hope for the Rebellion and throughout 11 missions Col Serra, Han Solo, and other classic heroes will lead you and the Renegade Squadron through some of the most intense, frantic and history shaping battles that have ever been shown in a Battlefront game.
