Star Wars Television Pilot to Debut in Theaters?

On the official blogs, Master Devwi posted an interesting blog where the SWAC Council first learned of the latest developments concerning the Star Wars television franchise and its speculated 2008 debut.

In the Hasbro Fall 2007 Analyst Event earlier today, someone from Hasbro said that the new TV show, Star Wars: Clone Wars - The Animated Series would be premiering in theaters August 8, 2008 and on TV a few weeks later!

Lucasfilm's response:
"I'd like to clarify Hasbro comments this AM about the Clone Wars TV series. We see it as a breakthrough animated television series and are exploring a number of innovative ways to introduce it to the public. No decisions regarding release strategy have been made yet. [A theatrical release is] one of the many things being discussed but we have no decisions yet. For us it's all about finding a creative way to launch a creative TV series."

"A most informative muppet, this Master Devwi is."

But yes, I agree. I'm so down with camping out for a television pilot checking into theaters before hitting the small screen. Star Wars probably stands alone in being able to pull this off with blockbuster success.

Spanking fine ass journalism, Master Devwi. Maybe this guy should come work for SWAC?

I really hope they do put the pilots for both series in films. Peole will flock to this in droves.

Yeah, maybe JediJef & DarthDan can have a"Sleepover" Leia style at the theater. yoda09.gif yoda09.gif

Thanks, but you should really give credit to TF.N. I'm just "passing the word along."

Only if there's lots of girls in slave Leia costumes.

Forgive me if I'm out of line here, Masters Jef and Dan, but it appears to me that SWAC is first and foremost about Star Wars from the fan perspective (arguably the true perspective, seeing as the creator is sometimes out of touch with his own work.)

Dan was giving your blog mad props for being informative as a way of celebrating your obvious attention to Star Wars news.

SWAC's refreshing take on keeping up with Star Wars, not to mention their devotion to fan perspective, is a breath of fresh air when put alongside the politically correct doldrums of TFN and official site news. These guys aren't afraid to add a little personality and originality into their reporting, something TFN and the official site could take a lesson in.

Isn't Lucas and Lucas arts rich enough? Can't they just do something that only requires you to relax in the comfort of your own living room? No, of course not...
As A SW nut I would love to see anything SW on the big screen but this is computer animation folks! And lets face it, it's not like we don't know whats going to happen... I am pretty disapointed that Lucas would be so greedy.... "Hey George... if your listening... booooooooo!Between the network deals and ratings around the world, I think thats enough. We as the loyal fans deserve to not have to pay 10 - 15 dollars a ticket for your wallet..."
Don't get me wrong... once again I love the idea of the theatre size viewing experience. My big question is will the premier be 1/2 an hour or a full two????I am torn on this one folks...
