When Daniel McFatter heard The Cure's little known song from the Judge Dredd soundtrack over ten years ago, it struck a chord with him. He immediately identified the message in Robert Smith's lyrics with Luke Skywalker's plight to save his father. Dredd Song is nothing if not a musical yarn, spun by Smith's compositional wizardry and haunting vocals, as he encourages a nameless hero to never give up.

Dan first realized his interpretation of Dredd Song in early 1999 by resampling sound bytes and lightsaber sound effects from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi into a shortened mp3 version of the song. In the hype leading up to the release of The Phantom Menace, he shared the mp3 online, and it has since garnered circulation on the internet among The Cure enthusiasts.

In the wake of Revenge of the Sith and the conclusion of the Skywalker saga, Dan was able to bring Vader's journey full circle in this final video version, marrying it with Who Wants to Live Forever to complete his Vader Duology.
