NOOOOOOOOO!





BioWare is apparently not involved, while LucasArts' MMO will run alongside the Star Wars TV series...

Rumour has it that a new Star Wars MMO is in development at LucasArts, and is scheduled to launch alongside the live-action Star Wars TV series towards the end of 2009. The MMO's plot will supposedly follow the same storylines as the TV series.

The rumours also suggest that this MMO will not be developed by BioWare or Sony Online Entertainment.

BioWare does currently have an untitled MMO in development, as well as an apparently unrelated project with LucasArts (details of which are sparse to say the least).

This is, of course, just a rumor, but as BioWare did state when it first announced it was developing a sci-fi MMO, it was not Star Wars themed, so I for one think this rumor is the truth, as terrible as that may be.

An interesting report... and if true, a disappointment for the fanboy home team who have been banking heavily on Bioware saving our Star Wars mmo experience.

You'll never get an accurate GCW timeline, at least in an mmo. Gaming is on the verge of being dominated by casual fans, and casual SW fans demand Jedi at the expense of everything else.

This is still rumour... with less evidence to support it than the BioWare rumor. This rumor has come from Surfergirl... who is often wrong. Also we have no evidence that any of the major MMO players have disappeared off the face of the earth to a secret LEC bunker.

I personally don't care who develops a new SW MMO... as long as its good and as long as its out soon. However the Dark Times/TV series time period would cause two of the main issues that SWG had/has. An established time period where heavy amounts of continuity stifles creativity and the supposed rarity of Jedi.

Ideally the KOTOR or Legacy time periods are the perfect settings for a new MMO imho.

Oh and BTW... BioWare has NEVER said that their MMO wasn't SW based they have said virtually nothing about it... and Ive been following every word of it since it was announced.
