In 2006, LucasArts will release its 3D real-time strategy: Star Wars: Empire at War. In an epic series of battles that will span the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith, the creation of the Rebel Alliance, and the rise of Darth Vader, players will be able to choose either the Empire or Rebellion, and command their legions to victory over planet and space - possibly changing the fate of the galaxy in the process.
Petroglyph, makers of the Command and Conquer series, have developed a brand new engine that will render never-before-seen locations taken from fan-loved Expanded Universe resources, as well as classic locations from the films. LucasArts boasts a new concept with Empire at War called 'persistent', which means that the decisions and outcomes of previous battles will effect the battles of the future.
Slated exclusively for a PC release, players will be able to manage massive galactic armies over 40 different planet and space locations, and participate in 8-player online skirmishes. Star Wars fans and RTS fans alike will enjoy constructing space stations, factories, and planetary defenses; deploying Star Destroyers, X-Wings, AT-ATs, and speederbikes; and commanding Rebel soldiers, Imperials stormtroopers, and classic characters from the films.
Empire at War marches into stores on February 7th, 2006.
