It probably has to do with the fact that he's basically a replacement for Maul in the category of looking cool yet doing absolutely nothing of importance. Hopefully Clone Wars will fix that. Grievous was originally a human named Qymaen jai Sheelal, then Sidious and Dooku put a bomb on hsi shuttle and wiht his body of no use, they put his organs into that of the droid body turning him into an ultimate killing machine. And Darth Maul should have rated much higher than some insignificant, never heard of her, EU character - Admiral Isard.
