Personally, the movie (and show) is going to need to have a lot more to it than busied-up action and throw-away banter to have any staying power with me, as this clip was more of a step backwards rather than a step forwards in my excitement. I really, really want to like this, but yawn-inducing scenes like this do not bode well for the future. I mean, really, the scene came across as little more than a glorified cut-scene for a Cartoon Network version of Star Wars Battlefront.

And the thing is, this show needs to do very well. Lucas is sinking a lot of cash into this show (and LucasAnimation) and were it to flop, this could be a serious blow to any future Star Wars television stories. I think we've all kind of forgotten how important and big TCW needs to be. I begin to worry now when I see that something this stylized and with such a nebulous demographic has the future of SW television riding on its shoulders. It makes me wish that Lucas had gone with something "safer" (and more interesting) for his first whack at SW television, like the live action drama that takes place between Episodes III and IV.

Agreed. As an action sequence, it's not really that engaging: more than a cutscene, I would say it's actually like watching someone play a video game. I feel like it has lost a lot of the kinetic energy from the cartoon, but hasn't picked up the weight and impact of the movies. It's a strange middle-ground.

Also: Obi-Wan's voice. I can't tell any more whether they're casting people who pretend to be Alec Guiness or people who pretend to be Ewan McGregor pretending to be Alec Guiness. I'd rather just see someone with acting chops and an appropriate, but not necessarily identical, accent.

James Arnold Taylor usually does a kickass job of doing a near identical impression of MacGregor's Kenobi, but even I was surprised by how off he sounds in all of the TCW bits. He's voiced the prequel Kenobi with perfection in countless video games and the Clone Wars micro-series. Not sure why he's not quite on his game now that he's performing the most accessible version of Kenoi he'll ever have the chance to. I'm also disappointed that they didn't go with Mat Lucas for the voice of Anakin, who's Hayden impersonation was dead on for the micro-series and video games. No idea why they cast this kid who sounds nothing like the actor from the films. More stuff that doesn't bode well for me about this...

I don't know, I like it. I guess I kinda look at it in a different light for what it is. It's a short story geared toward a younger group of fans. I mean seriously...there is attack of the clones, the two Cartoon Network series clone movies and now this one. There's only so much story line and drama you can have to keep someones interest when you have something this drawn out. But, I do like the visuals and action scenes, and I an interested in seeing how the story plays out.

Yeah, I actually enjoyed that scene. Maybe its because I love video games, but I don't know, it did what it was supposed to do: show the Jedi and the clones kicking ass in a pitched battle.

The only thing I don't like is Kenobi's retarded beard and Dooku's whole head (not in this clip, but others).

I'm not expecting Shakespearean drama from this series, regardless of Lucas' comparisons to Band of Brothers (which I'll wait to scoff at it until I've actually seen CW). If it turns out be something more than an action flick, great, but I'm not holding my breath, and will probably enjoy it more as a result.
