A Muun
|
Something Wicked This Way Comes by DarthDan
It has been announced on the official site, that a novel about the mysterious Darth Plagueis the Wise is in the works. The volume is due out in 2008, penned by the crafty hand of James Luceno, an Expanded Universe author that has proven his worth with the recent Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, among other titles.
While I won't count my kaduus before they're hatched, I have pretty high hopes for this one. They've tantalized us with the revelation (surprisingly) that Plagueis is a Muun. (Think back to the thin callow-skinned alien in AOTC, San Hill, who was a signatory of the Confederacy of Independent Systems - "The InterGalactic Banking Clan will sign your treaty.")
I look forward to a novel that depicts the elusive Plagueis as an unknown and undiscovered Sith lord, hopefully training a youthful boy from Naboo of the Palpatine family. I highly doubt that Luceno will pass up the opportunity of writing about Plagueis' "ability to cheat death", so that is definitely something to look forward to.
In Dark Lord, I was disappointed at first that Vader wasn't the central character to the point that I stopped reading it for a while. Since then, I have prepared myself for something like that again, and here it is, showing up "sooner than expected" like four Jedi masters coming to arrest a Supreme Chancellor - the Darth Plagueis novel! Following suit of Dark Lord and Darth Maul: Shadowhunter, I have accepted that Plagueis will more than likely be the main villain instead. But there's always that chance. . .
Either way, I await this book like a little boy trying to sleep on Christmas Eve.
