SWG: Remembrance

Much has been written regarding the massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: Galaxies. While the majority of it has been negative, I?d like to take a minute to remember the roleplay community that the game fostered, and the fact that without it, there?s a very real possibility that the friendships underlying this website would not exist.
This week marks the third anniversary of the game?s launch, and, while I hesitate to use the word celebration when it comes to something that has wounded more than a few of us, I would like to mark the occasion by sharing any fond memories you may have of your time spent in game.
For my part, I left the game having been a part of the most talented, passionate, and dedicated roleplaying community I have ever experienced, a community that breathed life into many authentic and fully realized Star Wars characters who are now an integral part of my personal canon. The Starsider community, warts and all, helped me to realize the dream of living in the Star Wars universe for a time, and it was a dream from which I was loathe to wake.
When I did, I found that despite my anger over what had become of the game, I couldn?t let that be the lingering memory of what was, by and large, a sublime two and one half years. Corr Fleete may have disappeared without a trace, but his creator has emerged from the wreckage with a compatriot soul and partner in crime, a handful of loyal and way talented friends, and most importantly, a love he never thought possible.
